Honoring The Past - NFA's Undefeated 1942 Baseball Season
Posted 05/05/2017 06:18PM

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Norwich Free Academy Varsity Baseball team's undefeated 1942 season. To celebrate the achievement, the Academy honored members of the team on Friday, May 5. Five members of the team, Richard Buckley '42, Robert Huntington '42, William Murphy '43, Albert Couture '42, and Horace Deshefy '44, all now in their 90s, and their families were celebrated by NFA's 2017 Varsity Baseball team and coaches.

"This is a great event for our alumni, current students and players," said Coach Luke Gabordi. "The opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of a group of gentleman from 75 years ago reinforces for our current players that they are a part of a long history of NFA baseball, and that while life is much larger than baseball, their experiences as players at NFA will become memories that last them a lifetime."
