NFA Community Update - March 24

A Message from the Head of School

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Norwich Free Academy. With Governor Lamont’s announcement yesterday that all Connecticut schools will remain closed until at least Monday, April 20, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some key updates with the NFA community.

Interim Learning Opportunities
Information and resources to keep students engaged can be found here. This is not meant to serve as formal continuity of learning (more on that below), but rather an opportunity for our students to remain engaged and have resources available until we are ready for a more formal and comprehensive continuity of learning plan for our students.

Continuity of Learning
We continue to finalize a more structured continuity of learning environment. You will receive a separate communication about that before the end of the week. Also, we will provide you with a phone number and email address if you need to ask questions and/or request technology support from our IT Department.

April Vacation
Our April vacation (April 13-17) will remain and will not be changed. These are challenging times with new levels of stress for all of us. A break is needed. While the formal continuity of learning program will not take place during the week of April vacation, students are, of course, welcome to continue using resources from our interim learning opportunities.

Free Meals – Now Including Weekends
As a continued reminder, grab-and-go meals (lunch and breakfast the next day) are available for pick-up Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in front of the Tirrell Building. I’m pleased to let you know that beginning this week, pick up on Friday will include meals for the weekend, too! The breakfast meals and Friday lunch will be cold meals. The Saturday and Sunday lunches will be ready to heat up. These meals are FREE to all NFA and NPS students and can be picked up by students or parents. Families may also pick up meals from any of the locations found here.

Updates related to this situation will be provided as needed through email, SchoolMessenger, social media and online at https://www.nfaschool.org/covid19.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this unprecedented time. Take good care.

Respectfully,

David J. Klein
