Saturday Morning Art Program

The Saturday Morning Children's Art Program introduces students to the visual and performing arts. Visual arts encompass a variety of media and techniques including mixed media painting, design and printmaking, watercolor, observational drawing and clay. Performing Arts junior theater classes explore the basics of theater and stage performance. Classes meet throughout the school year and culminate with exhibitions of artwork and performance.

The Saturday Morning Children's Art Program enrolls students, grades 1 through 8. Classes meet in two time slots: Time slot A meets 8:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.; time slot B meets 10:30 a.m. - noon.

The $150 per session fee includes 11 classes and supplies; $250 fee for both sessions includes 22 classes and supplies.

Saturday Morning Art offers children in grades 1 – 8, the opportunity to experience the arts, have fun creating while challenging their imaginations and meeting new friends. Students have the choice of 2 different classes offered and can take both throughout the school year!

1A: 8:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

Session 2: December 2, 9, 16 January 6, 20, 27 February 3, 10, 24 March 3**

(**Students in the Visual Arts will select work for the exhibition on the last day of class.)

VISUAL ARTS: Students will take classes taught by experienced artists where they will explore a variety of media and techniques, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, pottery, and more. This is for those who would like to try out a little bit of everything. Projects will vary from year to year.

  • EXHIBITION: March 25th – April 20th, 2018 / Opening reception will be
    March 25th, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Exhibition Invitations will be distributed the last week of class in March.
  • PLEASE PUT ON YOUR CALENDAR: Artwork in the exhibition must be collected by parents on April 21st, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Due to lack of storage space, a one week grace period will be granted. Any remaining artwork after that date will be disposed of.

JUNIOR THEATRE: In this project-based workshop, young actors will explore the basics of what it takes to do theatre. Through theatre games, improvisations, open scenes and other fun activities students will begin to develop the skills of close observation, ensemble-building, self-confidence, concentration and creativity essential to producing a play, a musical, or any piece of meaningful theatre. At the end of classes, students will show their skills in a performance.

Junior Theatre will be broken up into 2 age group offerings.

  • Time Slot A (8:45 – 10:15 am) grades 3rd – 5th
  • Time Slot B (10:30 am – 12:00 9m) grades 6th – 8th
EXHIBITION: Students will participate in a small performance for the exhibition opening on March 25th at 1:00 pm.


Classes start September 9th. Please plan to attend all classes unless notified. Please DO NOT drop off your child outside the building. Escort your child into the building every Saturday to ensure classes are taking place.

Cancellations due to weather will be made prior to the scheduled class. An email and/or phone notice will go out notifying all of the cancellation and it will be posted on the NFA website, Please make sure we have your most updated information to be contacted.

When registering, please complete the photo release form either giving your child permission or not giving your child permission to be in any photographs for the Saturday Morning Art program. All students are required to have a form on file.
