NFA names new boys swimming coach
Walker Cook '14 has been named the new boys swimming coach at Norwich Free Academy.
“Walker was an integral part of the swimming program when he was a student here,” said NFA Athletic Director Roy Wentworth. “His leadership of the program now brings him full circle. As we await continued guidance on what any potential winter season will look like, I’m confident that Walker is ready to lead our team.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity for me,” said Cook, who succeeds Cory Tubbs. “As we wait for further guidance for this upcoming season, I’m excited to work with our team and continue to build a successful swimming program at NFA.”
Cook, a 2014 NFA graduate, assisted Tubbs last season. Tubbs will continue to coach girls swimming.
A ninth grade history teacher at the Academy, Cook is also in the NFA record books. In 2013, he was part of the relay teams that set new school records in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay. Those records still stand today.
