Mike Murphy, Head Coach
Mike Murphy originally hails from Elmont, Long Island, NY, where he was a three-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse for the Elmont Spartans and a midfielder on its 1970 Long Island Championship team. After high school, he played for two seasons at Nassau Community College as a midfielder on its 1973 and 1974 NJCAA National Championship teams before moving on to Fairleigh Dickinson University where he was a team captain and starting midfielder on its NCAA Division II Tournament team in 1976. He also has extensive lacrosse club playing experience. His coaching experience includes stints at the collegiate, prep school, high school and youth levels. At the college level, he led the men’s lacrosse program at Mitchell College for three seasons in its transition from the NJCAA to NCAA Division III status. His high school/prep school resume includes head coaching roles at St. Thomas More, Montville, Lyme-Old Lyme and Wheeler. He also served as a technical director and coach for the Groton Mystic Lacrosse Association at the youth level.
Mike Doyle, Assistant Coach
Mike Doyle is in his second year as an assistant coach at NFA. Doyle’s specialty is teaching lacrosse fundamentals. Prior to joining the NFA staff, Doyle served for three years as a defense assistant coach at Montville High School. He also was an assistant coach at Fitch High School for eight years.
