Coaches
Steve Nelson, Head Coach
Steve Nelson has led the wrestling program at NFA for seven years, amassing a record of 60-47 during that time. Prior to coaching at NFA, Nelson was an assistant coach in Montville for five seasons. He was a two-time All-State wrestler in high school.
Nick Rankin, Assistant Coach
An NFA graduate, Rankin is in his second year on Coach Nelson’s staff. He was a two-time All-State wrestler in high school, and he continued his career as a wrestler at Western New England College. Rankin is also a Lieutenant in the Norwich Police Department.
Wayne Nelson, Assistant Coach
This is Wayne Nelson’s second season assisting his son Steve on the NFA coaching staff. He has more than 25 years of coaching experience in the Montville system at all levels, youth through high school. He was a member of the last varsity wrestling team at UCONN before it was cut. Nelson is retired from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.
Rob Grube, Assistant Coach
Rob Grube is in his fourth season on Coach Nelson’s staff.
