Joe Iozzia has been named the girls’ soccer coach at Norwich Free Academy.
“Joe has jumped right into this role, and I’m excited to have him take over our program,” said Athletic Director Roy Wentworth. “He has a great rapport with our kids, understands the game and believes in what we are trying to accomplish. He will be a great leader for our student-athletes."
Iozzia brings 11 years of coaching experience to the position, with more than half of them coming as an assistant for the Mitchell College women’s program. In addition, he served as a head coach for the Quinebaug Valley Travel Soccer Association. He also has experience as a youth soccer coach in North Stonington.
“I have a passion for soccer and a commitment to nurturing athletic skills and personal growth,” said Iozzia. “I’m eager to contribute to the success of this program, working with a great group of student-athletes. I understand the balance needed between rigorous training and academic responsibilities, and I’m ready to get started!”
Iozzia, who graduated from NFA, has a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from UCONN. He replaces Taylor Shannon.
