Park named girls' volleyball coach

Alex Park

Alex Park has been named the girls’ volleyball coach at Norwich Free Academy.

“Alex comes to us with a track record of success,” said Athletic Director Roy Wentworth. “His work ethic, knowledge of the game and commitment to student athletes is impressive. Based on his past experience, I look forward to the continued growth and success of our program.”

Park took over as head coach at Manchester High School in 2020 after helping Avon High School to a state title as an assistant in 2019. He transformed the program at Manchester, and his teams there made the state tournament four years in a row. He also has head coaching experience at the club level and as an assistant coach for high school boys.

“This is an incredible opportunity,” said Park. “I value hard work, competitiveness and team-first attitude from all players and coaches. I have a passion for helping athletes grow athletically, academically and as people. We will hone many skills as athletes that will aid us in becoming great students and confident leaders. Our team will focus on having a growth mindset, knowing that we can always improve as players and people and embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.”

Park replaces Raleighe Orszulak-Borecki, who remains as head coach of the boys’ team.
