Walsh named new softball coach
Tim Walsh head varsity softball coach

Tim Walsh has been named the girls’ softball coach at Norwich Free Academy.

“After his work with our players as an assistant, Tim has earned the chance to step into this role,” said Athletic Director Roy Wentworth. “He has a great rapport with our kids, he understands our kids and he knows the game. He will be a great addition to our program."

Walsh has been the varsity assistant coach for the last three years. In that time, he has worked primarily with the outfielders, in addition to coaching first base. He’s also the head coach of our freshmen girls’ volleyball program. And, Walsh is a familiar face at many of our athletics activities as a member of the event staff.

“I understand our players. I know what motivates them. I know their strengths and their areas for improvement,” Walsh said. “During my time as an assistant, I’ve learned more about the importance of organization, planning and communications. I’m ready and excited to take on this role.”

Walsh, who teaches English and journalism at NFA, holds a master’s from Sacred Heart University and a bachelor’s from Stonehill College. He replaces Athena Jaskiewicz.
