Updated COVID guidelines

Norwich Free Academy will align its COVID-19 protocols with those recently adopted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

In line with current recommendations for flu and RSV, individuals with COVID-19 should stay home until they’ve been fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours and symptoms are resolving. There is no longer a mandatory five-day isolation period.

Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 are asked to contact the medical center to help us track local results and provide the best information for all, particularly for students involved in athletics due to the possibility of other complications due to sports-induced symptoms.

NFA remains a mask-optional campus for any student or staff member and highly recommends that individuals who have COVID-19 wear a mask through day 5.

The CDC recommendations are clear that the best way to stop the spread of a virus is to stay home if you are sick! Other preventive measures include keeping up with vaccinations, practicing good hygiene, taking steps for cleaner air (fresh air, purifiers, etc), wearing a well-fitted mask and keeping distance from others.

COVID-19 tests are available in the Medical Center.
