Youth Empowerment Program
Freshman and lower students are invited to apply for the Youth 2 Youth empowerment program. Work with Norwich Youth and Family Services to plan an conduct community projects focused on drug and alcohol prevention and abuse. Students will meet biweekly starting in January. Pet Supply Drive
Support NFA Animal Advocates Club with a donation of pet food, toys, and other supplies. Bring donations to the dog house boxes in each House Office before Fri., Dec. 21.
Annual Historically Black College Tour
April 14-19 (Spring Break). Open to all students - accepting applications until filled.
Visit Howard University, Morgan State, NC A&T State, Winston Salem State, Shaw University and UNC (Chapel Hill).

Financial Aid Workshops for Seniors
Learn more about financial aid and paying for college. Topics to include: paying for college, sources and types of financial aid, and how to complete the FAFSA. Held in the Career Resource Center (Rm 1102).

Ms. Roberts is now accepting submissions for 2019 Poet Laureate. To apply, send 3 peoms to email@example.com by February 8, 2019. A panel of judges will then select the winning poet. The winner will represent NFA at a Poetry Workshop in March with former Rhode Island Poet Laureate Lisa Starr and an evening performance at the Arts Cafe Mystic celebrating the Poets Laureate from eastern CT high schools. The chosen poet will also receive $100.
Writer's Ink will be publishing their first literary and art magazine in January. All students are eligible to submit writing, photography, and artwork by the following deadline: January 11, 2019. Military Students Scholarship
10th and 11th-grade students from military families are encouraged to apply for the 2019 Provost's Pre-College Summer Scholarship at the University of Southern California - a 4-week summer program for college credit. Deadline: Jan. 18.
Applicants must be the son or daughter of an active US military service member, reservist, or guard. For more info visit the Career Resource Center (1102) or your guidance counselor.

Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Community Leadership Workshop
Attention 9th-grade leaders: NFA is looking for 9th-grade student representatives to participate in the 2019 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Community Leadership Workshop, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Jan. 12 at Wesleyan University. The free, one-day experience is focused on leadership and community service and connects students with other local high school students and leaders in the community. Up to five freshmen from NFA will be selected to attend.

Enjoy delicious, student-created entrees and outstanding customer service in the Brickview. Check in with Ms. Martin in the Bradlaw House Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays before 10 am. If student reservations are remaining, you can sign up and receive a Brickview invitation to eat for FREE that day (good for you and a "plus one").

Attention Seniors: In early 2019, we will be placing the order for your cap and gown. At that time you will also confirm the spelling of your legal name for your diploma. Participation in the June graduation ceremony requires the wearing of the traditional cap, gown, and tassel.
The cost of your graduation cap and gown has been added to your Power School account in the amount of $29. Payment must be made by April 30, 2019. You may bring payment to Ms. Martin in the Bradlaw Office at any time before April 30. Payment may be made by cash, money order, or check payable to NFA. Those students on free or reduced lunch may see their guidance counselors for financial assistance.

Lost and Found
Lost items found on campus are sent to Project Outreach - Room 7101 (except electronics). Electronic items are sent to Campus Safety. Check with PO more than once if you have lost something. Label your belongings - labeled items are easy to return.
FREE After School Snack and Dinner
A free Grab-and-Go Snack is available to all NFA Students from 2:10-2:30 p.m. each day in the cafeteria.
Free dinner is available from 4 - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the back cafeteria for all NFA students age 18 and younger. The dinner complies with Connecticut State meal requirements. Students sign in to participate and eat dinner in the cafeteria. No grab-and-go or takeout.
