Book Drive Update
Thank you to everyone who donated to the holiday book drive. 486 new and like-new books were collected and given to the children of Norwich this year.
Youth Empowerment Program
Freshman and lower students are invited to apply for the Youth 2 Youth empowerment program. Work with Norwich Youth and Family Services to plan an conduct community projects focused on drug and alcohol prevention and abuse. Students will meet biweekly starting in January. For more info attend the informational session 2:20-3 p.m., Thu. Jan. 10 in room 7101. For more information contact Mrs. Savage in room 7101.
Writer's Ink will be publishing their first literary and art magazine in January. All students are eligible to submit writing, photography, and artwork by the following deadline: January 11, 2019. Email submissions to Ms. Roberts, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Ms. Cholewa, email@example.com. Writer's Ink meets Tuesdays after school in room 2135.
Fashion Show Try-Outs
Fashion Club is looking for models for an upcoming fashion show! Tryouts are held 2:30 p.m., Jan. 22-24, in the Atrium 2nd floor. All are welcome. Bring heels if you plan to walk in heels for the show.
Ms. Roberts is now accepting submissions for 2019 Poet Laureate. To apply, send 3 poems to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 8, 2019. A panel of judges will then select the winner, who will represent NFA at a Poetry Workshop at the Arts Cafe Mystic and receive $100.
Annual Historically Black College Tour
April 14-19 (Spring Break). Open to all students - accepting applications until filled.
Visit Howard University, Morgan State, NC A&T State, Winston Salem State, Shaw University and UNC (Chapel Hill).
Cost - $325 (includes transportation and hotels.) $100 deposit required. Visit the Diversity Department for an application and more information.

- Chelsea Groton Bank Scholarship: $500 scholarship (April 15 deadline)

Military Students Scholarship
10th and 11th-grade students from military families are encouraged to apply for the 2019 Provost's Pre-College Summer Scholarship at the University of Southern California - a 4-week summer program for college credit. Deadline: Jan. 18.
Applicants must be the son or daughter of an active US military service member, reservist, or guard. For more info visit the Career Resource Center (1102) or your guidance counselor.
FOR SENIORS ONLY- FREE Dining in the Brickview
Enjoy delicious, student-created entrees and outstanding customer service in the Brickview. Check in with Ms. Martin in the Bradlaw House Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays before 10 am. If student reservations are remaining, you can sign up and receive a Brickview invitation to eat for FREE that day (good for you and a "plus one").
You can not sign up other students, and you can not make a reservation for a future date.

Attention Seniors: In early 2019, we will be placing the order for your cap and gown. At that time you will also confirm the spelling of your legal name for your diploma. Participation in the June graduation ceremony requires the wearing of the traditional cap, gown, and tassel.
The cost of your graduation cap and gown has been added to your Power School account in the amount of $29. Payment must be made by April 30, 2019. You may bring payment to Ms. Martin in the Bradlaw Office at any time before April 30. Payment may be made by cash, money order, or check payable to NFA. Those students on free or reduced lunch may see their guidance counselors for financial assistance.
