An important update - October 14, 2020

This morning, I met with representatives from Norwich Public Schools, the Integrated Day Charter School and the Uncas Health District to review up-to-date metrics related to COVID-19 in our community.

As a result of that meeting, all parties are in unanimous agreement to extend our remote learning for an additional week. Based on this decision, we will welcome students back to campus Monday, October 26.

Norwich remains one of the highest areas in our state. Our hope is that the additional week – combined with continued vigilance in our community – will provide the safest environment possible for our students to return to campus, which we know provides the best learning opportunity for them.

Students will continue to follow our normal schedule, and clubs and athletic teams may only meet virtually during this time.

The one thing that remains absolutely clear is that proper mitigation steps can help us in our desire to have students return to school. Testing has increased in our community, and we encourage anyone to get tested. More importantly, wear your mask and keep your social distance.

I appreciate your continued cooperation, patience and flexibility, and I will provide additional information as needed.
