NFA, faculty reach three-year agreement

Norwich, CT (November 19, 2019) – Norwich Free Academy and the Education Association, Norwich Free Academy (EANFA) have reached agreement on a new three-year contract, effective July 1, 2020.

The agreement, which runs through June 30, 2023, provides an overall salary increase of 9%, with 3.04% in year one, 3.17% in year two and 2.79% in the final year. There are no changes related to health insurance.

The existing contract expires June 30, 2020.

“The dedicated faculty at NFA is vital to the success of our students,” said DeVol Joyner, chair of the NFA Board of Trustees. “This agreement, reached after thoughtful deliberations, allows our faculty to continue their focus of providing outstanding learning opportunities for our students.”

“This new contract is the result of hard work by both sides to reach a mutually beneficial agreement,” said Bryan Burdick, co-president of EANFA. “I am grateful for the effort of our faculty, especially the members of the negotiations committee, throughout the negotiation process, and I am appreciative of our administration for working together for the overall benefit of our students.”

“This negotiation process was professional, collaborative and focused,” said Head of School David Klein. “The true ‘winner’ during this process is our students, who will continue to benefit from the lessons and examples provided to them by our faculty.”
