The first-ever What’s Next for Me? event at Norwich Free Academy helped prepare the more than 600 members of the Class of 2020 to take the next step in their journey following graduation in June. Organized by the Guidance & School Counseling Department, the event started off in Alumni Gym with performances by the Wildcat Marching Band and the Jazz Pom Squad. Guest speaker and NFA alum Frederick-Douglass Knowles '91 spoke to the class about the importance of pursuing their passion and telling their own story. Students then participated in one of three specific workshops to help them prepare for post-graduation life. Local businesses and technical training programs were on hand to meet with students and discuss employment opportunities. Representatives from the Armed Forces were on hand to discuss options within each service. And, many students found themselves in front of a computer and working on the Common Application and revising or starting their essay for college admission. Tee shirts, raffle prizes and fun photos rounded out the experience. There are several paths for students to take upon graduation, and, today, each student moved closer to answering the question, What’s Next for Me?
