Project Outreach

Project Outreach (PO) is a student organization based upon volunteerism and advocacy. PO recruits and places annually, on average, over 500 student volunteers in the surrounding community and the NFA campus. Student Coordinators, chosen for their leadership skill and organizational ability, work together to recruit and place student volunteers.

Project Outreach unites students from every grade level, economic, linguistic and ethnic background as they work together for a common goal.

PO student volunteers participate in a variety of projects ranging from the Backus Hospital Breast Cancer Survivors Fashion Show to Reading Buddies, a program promoting literacy in local elementary schools. PO students volunteer on campus as tour guides, peer tutors, event staff and much more.

The program is continually expanding its reach as additional students dedicate their time and energy. For more information about becoming involved, contact Project Outreach Coordinator, Jodi Vara at 860-425-5643.

Rose Arts Festival Volunteers—Volunteers to help with various stations throughout the day. This is a huge festival with 1000’s of participants. We need a lot of volunteers. Volunteers get t-shirts

Summer Jam Volunteers—Students to do community projects with students at a Norwich Summer Camp

Must sign up prior to June 19th with Mrs. Savage. Must have own transportation to Art Space in Norwich.

Tag Sale Volunteers—Helpers needed for Norwich Public School’s Education Foundation Tag Sale

SUMMER TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM—A fun and interactive way to learn leadership skills while developing a community service project that will be implemented in the fall.

Space is Limited—Sign up with Mrs. Savage to reserve your spot. Must be able to attend the whole week.

Norwichtown Rehab Visits and Life Review Program – Volunteer at the nursing home visiting with patients, taking them to recreation activities or helping them record their life stories.

See or email Mrs. Savage for more information. If you already signed up for life review and wish to do this over the summer please let Mrs. Savage know your availability so a match can be made.

Girls Mentor Program—We will begin working on  developing a girls mentoring program for the coming year for younger  school children.
