Children's Art Summer Camp

Saturday Morning Children’s Art Summer Camp offers children in grades 3 – 8 the opportunity to experience the arts for a week, have fun creating, challenge their imaginations, and meet new friends.

Students will create 4 - 5 projects and take a trip on campus to view the works in Slater Museum. Projects include the following mediums: Printmaking, Painting, Clay, Sculpture, Design, and Drawing.

Each full day of working on art projects will be broken by lunch. This is a great opportunity for students who love art!

AGE: Children in grades 3 - 8
FEE: Week 1 or 2 - $175.00, Week 1 & 2 - $300.00 (Fees include the cost of supplies)
TIME: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
DATES: Session 1 – July 16 - 20, Session 2 – July 23 - 27
PLACE: Sidney Frank Center for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Bradlaw Building, Norwich Free Academy

NOTES TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Advanced registration for Saturday Morning Art Summer Camp is strongly recommended to secure a student’s place in class and to ensure that the class will run. Enrollment is limited and accepted on a first-paid basis. Registrations will not be processed without payment. Registration closes, Wednesday, June 20. Cancellations for class must be made before June 30 for a complete refund.

Freshmen Leadership Academy

NFA's Project Outreach Program and Norwich Youth and Family Services are collaborating to introduce and empower incoming ninth-grade students with the basic skills and information to become community leaders for positive change.

The training includes Leadership Styles, Diversity Training, Communication Skills, How to Define a Problem, Bridges and Barricades, and Advocating Skills. Participants focus on teamwork and cooperation. Volunteer community mentors will help the participants achieve their goals. Students will develop a group community service project to implement during the school year.

For incoming members of the Class of 2022. Limited participation – open to the first 15 applicants.

Join faculty and student mentors at Norwich Free Academy for a week of music and fun. Open to all students entering grades 5-9 with one year of experience on their instrument.*

• Super Hero Wednesday – Dress as your favorite or create your own

STEM Academy - 6th, 7th, 8th Graders

Join Faculty from Norwich Free Academy and the University of Connecticut Neag School of Education for a free, one-week summer program on the NFA Campus.

Imagine the possibilities

Combine science, technology, engineering and math skills

This is a FREE program.

Session One: July 9-12
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Engineering: students will work in design teams to create solutions for a variety of engineering challenges.

Scientific Modeling: students will use NGSS grounded scientific modeling to tackle real world problems, while strengthening understanding in both life and physical sciences.

Wildcat Beginnings -Incoming 9th Graders

This program is a two day orientation to becoming an NFA Wildcat 9th Grader. Explore a "new you in a new school" - collaborate with upper class mentors, learn your way about campus, familiarize yourself with high school expectations, skills and strategies, participate in a community service project, and make new friends in the Class of 2022. There is no fee for ninth graders registered to enter NFA in the fall. No transportation. First come, first served. Participants must pre-register to attend and be medically cleared.

Wildcat Hoop School

Instruction by NFA coaches and players with a focus on baseketball skill development and fun! All kids will recieve a basketball and t-shirt with their registration.

Wildcat Volleyball Camp

The Wildcat Volleyball Camp will be led by NFA’s Varsity Girls and Boys Coach Ryan Czaja and Girls JV Coach Erin Kennick. Coach Czaja has 7 years of coaching experience at both the high school and college level and is a former college volleyball player. Coach Kennick had a successful career as a volleyball player at South Windsor High School and is entering her fifth season as a NFA volleyball coach. Assisting the coaching staff and serving as camp counselors will be past and present NFA players.

Summer Conditioning for NFA Student Athletes

Students continue to build on their growth, success, and commitment as athletes at NFA.

9-10 a.m. for returning NFA athletes
10 -11 a.m. for incoming NFA freshmen athletes
July 9 - August 2, 2018 - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
No fee

ALL athletes must complete the Student-Athlete Participation Packet.pdf (process and forms).

All athletes must have updated physical on file with nurse prior to participating
