Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
The demand for entry level healthcare positions is rapidly increasing, and YHPI provides an opportunity for a NFA students to gain immediate employment in a high demand healthcare career pathway. Upon successful completion of this program and passing grade on the state required exam, students will be placed on the State Certified Nurse Aide Registry. Students can opt to go directly into the workforce or continue their education in an RN or LPN program or do both concurrently.
CNA/Medical Interpreter
The Medical Interpreter program is geared toward bilingual students who gain stackable credentials as a CNA and a Medical Interpreter. In addition to CNA coursework, students in this pipeline receive specialized training focusing on the community and medical interpretation. Students are educated on common medical concepts, procedures and medical terminology.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
NFA's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Pilot Pipeline Program is offered in conjunction with the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) and American Professional Educational Services. The program prepares students to meet a growing need of workers in healthcare. The EMT Pipeline includes lectures, practical laboratory stations, hands on skills training and ambulance ride time. After successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry examination.
Youth Manufacturing Pipeline (YMPI)
The Youth Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (YMPI) is a collaborative program Eastern Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) to help prepare students to meet a growing need of workers in Advanced Manufacturing. Manufacturing companies in Eastern CT have a large demand for jobs for years to come. And with many workers in this field reaching retirement age, there is an extensive demand for these jobs to be filled.
