Norwich Free Academy names Taylor Shannon as the new Girls Soccer Head Coach. Shannon played both soccer and lacrosse while attending Eastern Connecticut State University.
Shannon also has experience coaching both sports. She currently is the Girls Lacrosse Head Coach. She also is a youth coach for UK International Soccer camps. When asked about the recent position, Shannon says, “I am extremely thrilled and honored to be taking over as head coach of the NFA girls soccer program. I have heard nothing but great things about these hard working, dedicated student-athletes and look forward to coaching them. I know these girls work tirelessly in the off season and deserve to have a coach who can relate to them and help lead them to success.”
Shannon currently works as a physical education teacher at Waterford Public Schools. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Eastern Connecticut State University.
Athletic Director, Roy Wentworth, states, “Taylor Shannon’s enthusiasm and experience is just what we were looking for. Taylor has college playing experience in both Soccer and Lacrosse and has proven herself already as our Girls Lacrosse Head Coach. Taylor has very impressive credentials and more importantly, she is a great role model and has established rapport with our athletes and coaches. I look forward to having her lead our Girls Soccer Program.”
