Class of 2020 -- Cap and Gown Pick Up Begins Tomorrow

Seniors, beginning tomorrow, you can come to campus to pick up your cap and gown and lawn sign to display your Wildcat pride at home! You should have received an email last week with the details, but you’ll find all instructions here

Also, this is a great time for you to return NFA materials (chrome books, textbooks and other materials). Information about that is included, too, including filling out this form. Forms will be on site if you can’t print out in advance. 

Class of 2020 -- Dodd Stadium Details

Seniors and senior families will receive an email tomorrow regarding guidelines for Dodd Stadium on June 11. We know you have questions, and we’ll provide the answers. Your patience is appreciated. You’ll also receive a parking ticket via the regular mail. Details on that in tomorrow’s email, too.

Please know we are finalizing all details and logistics for your chance to come back to campus for photos after June 11. We anticipate providing more information -- including how to sign up -- this week. Again, your patience is appreciated as we work through all scenarios.

Summer Reading 

Summer is a great time for reading -- whether for fun and relaxation or to complete assigned tasks! And, our library makes it fun. The more books you read, the more prizes you get. To learn all about the summer reading program, including those classes with required assignments, click here. You’ll also find valuable resources for finding a great book, as well as all of the details on how to win great prizes. Give it a look! 

Grades 9-11 -- Returning Materials

Students in grades 9-11 will receive information within the next couple of weeks about how to return materials (books and technology) to campus. We are working through logistics now and will keep you informed. Dates are likely to be in late June. 

Be a part of Project Outreach

Project Outreach is now accepting applications for student coordinators for the 2020/2021 school year. This position is a highly respected leadership role on the NFA campus and in the local community. Student coordinators are responsible for helping to connect with community leaders to develop and implement meaningful community service projects, assist with local events and celebrations, welcome new students to NFA and help with operations of the Project Outreach office. At this time we are aware of some uncertainty surrounding students' abilities to volunteer in the community, however we are looking into various ways to tackle this challenge. Applications are available to all students who are interested in making a difference in their community regardless of past experience with the Project Outreach program. Grab-and-Go Meals -- Ending June 15

Monday, June 15, will be the last day for free grab-and-go meal distribution. Meals, which include lunch and breakfast for the next day, are available Monday-Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in front of Tirrell.  For a menu, and a list of alternate food distribution sites, click here.

Awards and Recognition Events

Despite the many societal challenges and disappointment we face through this national health and safety crisis, the Academy is committed to honoring and recognizing the outstanding work and achievement of our students, especially our seniors, the NFA Class of 2020. We will do this by producing and broadcasting virtual ceremonial events according to the following schedule:

  • Monday, June 8, 6 pm – Annual Visual and Performing Art Awards

  • Tuesday, June 9, 6 pm – Norwich Free Academy Champions Night

  • Wednesday, June 10, 6 pm – Class Night and Awards Ceremony

  • Thursday, June 11, 4 pm – Commencement Exercises – Class of 2020
