VOTE NOW for your Homecoming Court!
Voting for the 2021 Homecoming Court begins Sunday, October 10 at midnight, and runs through Friday, October 15 at midnight. Look for the voting ballot under the Notices & Updates section of your student portal dashboard.
Homecoming 2021 -- tickets still on sale!
Homecoming may look a little different this year, but it’s back, and tickets are on sale now! Buy them each morning in the Tirrell lobby and during all the lunch channels in the cafeteria. Tickets will be on sale through Wednesday! An outdoor student celebration will be held Saturday, October 16, from 6 to 8:30 pm. For all the information you need, click here
. Additionally, the NFA Parent Council will have the concession stand open that night with free popcorn and hot cocoa for students. Other snacks will be available for purchase, too.
PSAT day is Wednesday
Attention 11th graders: You will receive an electronic pass Tuesday, October 12, with your room number and location for the PSAT test which will take place Wednesday, October 13. Be sure to check your email so you arrive at the testing on time. Testing will begin at 7:25.
Attention grades 9, 10 and 12: If you are in grades 9, 10 or 12 and you have an A or B channel class in Shattuck or Latham, you will be relocated on Wednesday, October 13, due to PSAT testing. Be sure to connect with your teacher so that you know where to go on that day.
Senior Class Photo
On Wednesday, October 13, seniors will participate in two class photos -- one in the gym and one outside on Chelsea Parade. Seniors need to report to their B channel class and will be instructed there on how to proceed for the photos.
Attendance -- save a phone call!
Parents: if your child is going to be absent from school, there’s a new way you can report that information to our attendance office. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
with your child’s name, grade and student ID, and the reason for the absence. This will save yo a phone call and still provide the information we need to our attendance secretaries.
Free lunch -- an update
Students are now required to enter their ID number for every meal going forward. All students are currently eligible to receive one free meal per day, and nobody will be charged for that first single meal. Any second meal on the same day, however, will require purchase.
2022 Yearbook sales are open
The 2022 Yearbook, the Mirror, is for now for sale. The book will arrive in the SPRING!
Senior Parent Ads are now available through the yearbook site, as well. For the month of October the book is $55. Seniors can buy the Graduation Supplement for $10. The supplement must be ordered separately and directly from Mrs. Fitzgerald in room 7723. For regular yearbook orders, go to yearbookforever.com

Wildcat Basketball League (WBL)
Join our intramural basketball group -- the Wildcat Basketball League.
We’ll host drills, skills and conditioning October 12 and 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Then, on October 19 and 21, we’ll work to establish teams before Opening Night on October 26. The season ends November 23.
Student scorekeepers and timers are needed, too.
Project Outreach Update
Project Outreach is teaming up with Norwich Youth and Family Services to offer a Teen Leadership Program. Students from NFA will work with other Norwich high school students to develop a community service project to be implemented next year. Students will learn leadership skills while working together on this common goal. Students will meet for one 4 hour initial session in November and then meet on Tuesdays from 3-5 for 6 additional meetings at the Rose City Senior Center. Taking an AP class? This is for you.
Any student taking an AP course or interested in taking an AP Exam: AP test registration is now open! To be fully registered to take an AP exam in the spring, you must register through both your College Board account and the NFA registration and payment form
. The deadline to register is Monday, November 8. The fee is $98/test. If you receive free/reduced lunch, the test fee is waived. For anyone who registers after November 8, there is an additional $40 late fee, regardless of lunch status. All test fees are non-refundable. If you have questions, please see your AP classroom teacher or your school counselor.
Photo retake day is October 14
Photo retakes will occur Thursday, October 14, in the Beech Tree Lounge. This is for all new students, those who lost their ID or never had their ID photo taken. Photos will take place until 3:30 pm. Questions? Contact Mrs. Howe at firstname.lastname@example.org

Candidate forum -- provide your input
The Young Voters Society and the NAACP Robertsine Duncan Youth Council are working with the League of Women Voters leading up to three local debates held at NFA between candidates vying for the Board of Education, City Council and Mayor. Our community has the ability to submit questions for each of the debates, and questions are currently being solicited for the Board of Education candidates. Financial aid and more -- a virtual workshop
Barnum Financial Group is hosting a virtual workshop October 28 for NFA families on Exploring Financial Aid and Cash Management Solutions. The workshop begins at 6 pm. The presentation will specifically address needs-based information, resources for merit aid, FAFSA versus CSS profile, tax code incentives, tuition discounting and minimizing student loans. The workshop is open to 10th, 11th and 12th-grade families.

2022 - 2023 CNA and Advanced Manufacturing Program Interest
On Tuesday, October 26th, during G channel, there will be a presentation offered to 11th-grade students interested in getting more information on NFA's Advanced Manufacturing and CNA Programs. The Advanced Manufacturing and Certified Nurse Aide Program help prepare students to meet a growing need of workers in healthcare and advanced manufacturing.
