Norwich Free Academy's School Counseling Department is committed to the following goals:

  • Students will attain the highest levels of academic achievement of which they are capable.
  • Students will understand the connections between their education and the transition to training and career choices.
  • Students will graduate with a post-secondary plan.
  • Students will develop good decision-making skills, set personal goals, and demonstrate respect for others.

In addition, the School Counseling Department is committed to ensuring that all students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to implement their post-high school plan.

Each student, in cooperation with parents and school counselor, creates a four-year Student Success Plan (SSP). The four-year plan is reviewed annually in small groups and individually to consider past performance, plan for the future, and oversee the steps necessary to form and achieve each student’s personal goals.
